Healthy Skin….Inside and Out

We all know that healthy skin starts from the inside out – a good diet, plenty of water, exercise and the right amount of sleep BUT then the real world and our busy schedules kick in!!!

Some carrier oils that natural skin-care products are made from are high in certain vitamins and minerals that can help improve the health and quality of your skin and by being applied topically in your daily skin-care routine, we are now helping our skin from the outside in.

Below is a list of some of our most commonly used ingredients……..

Apricot Kernel Oil – Apricot kernel oil contains vitamin A and E, which soothes your skin and slow signs of aging.  Apricot kernel seed oil is light and gently moisturizes skin. The light texture of apricot kernel oil makes it useful in face serums.

Argan Oil- Argan oil contains high amounts of natural vitamin A, along with Omega 6 and 9 essential fatty acids. This vitamin rich oil helps to stimulate skin cells, reduces premature aging and hydrates the skin.

Avocado Oil – Avocado oil is rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B5, C, D, E and K.  It is a fantastic oil for every skin type.  It is an effective moisturizing and anti-aging oil.

Carrot Seed Essential Oil – Carrot Seed essential oil has the right type of antioxidants and vitamin A that can save your skin from damage by the sun. It is also great for premature wrinkling, as well as dry skin.

Geranium Essential Oil – Geranium Essential Oil has astringent properties, which are thought to help tighten sagging skin, which can help minimize the appearance of wrinkles. It also contains fatty acids, the nutrient needed to help build healthy skin cells.

Castor Oil – Castor oil contains omega 6 essential fatty acids, vitamin E, as well as other vitamins and minerals.  One of the benefits of castor oil for skin is that when it is used topically, it can help to slow down aging.  Castor oil, when applied to the skin, penetrates deeply and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin and helps soften and hydrate the skin. It delays the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and makes the skin smoother and softer.

Hemp Seed Oil – Hemp seed Oil is high in essential fatty acids, Omega 6 and omega 3.  Hemp seed oil can be used to help slow down the aging process.

Jojoba Oil – Jojoba oil contains beneficial ingredients, including vitamin E, vitamin B complex, silicon, chromium, copper and zinc.  Jojoba oil is very similar to the oil our skin produces, moisturizes skin and is also absorbed readily.  Because it is the perfect moisturizer, jojoba can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Grapeseed Oil – Grapeseed oil is packed with antioxidants and vitamin C.  The antioxidant properties in grapeseed oil are excellent for slowing down the skin aging process.

Macadamia Nut Oil – Macadamia Nut Oil is very high in palmitoleic acid, which is very similar to the skin’s own natural oil acid. Because palmitoleic acid gets depleted fast as skin ages, it is important to have this oil. This is one of the reasons why macadamia nut oil is a key ingredient in many anti-aging products.  It is a highly absorbent oil that is extremely nourishing to mature and/or dry skin.

Olive Oil – High quality extra virgin olive oil provides a high content of antioxidants, like polyphenols, vitamins E & K, chlorophyll and carotenoids.  Antioxidants when topically applied, may help protect the skin from premature skin aging. Vitamin E partly accounts for the anti-aging benefits of olive oil because it helps restore skin smoothness.

Pomegranate Seed Oil – Pomegranate Seed oil contains essential vitamins and minerals (B1, B2, C, potassium, and magnesium).  Pomegranate seed oil contains a high concentration of ellagic acid, which is an antioxidant that helps prevent wrinkle formation. All skin types can benefit from this oil. It absorbs deeply into the skin without leaving a greasy residue. It can be used by those with dry skin to help moisturize. It also works well for those with oily skin, by aiding in skin regeneration. This oil does not clog pores

Rose Hip Seed Oil – Rosehip seed oil is high in vitamin A, which is a key anti-aging ingredient. Rosehips are very high in vitamin C.  Vitamin C on your skin help protect from environmental stressors, which cause skin dryness, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Safflower Oil – The linoleic acid found in safflower oil combines with sebum to unclog pores and reduce blackheads. It also helps to regenerate new skin cells, which can help with youthful skin. When applied to the skin, safflower oil also helps to smooth and moisturize.

Sesame Seed Oil – Sesame oil contains antioxidants and sesamol, which counteracts free radicals — a primary cause of aging.  The fatty acids contained in this oil, such as oleic, palmitic, stearic and linoleic acid, are effective moisturizers that keep skin supple and soft.

Sunflower Oil – Sunflower oil has a high acid content, which includes palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid, as well as vitamin E, which may help protect the collagen and elastin in skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Sweet Almond Oil – Sweet Almond oil is light in texture and can easily penetrate deep into the skin, softening and dislodging the dirt and debris accumulated in skin pores. Sweet Almond oil contains Vitamin A and Vitamin E.  This oil is especially rich in proteins and can provide the amino acids required for the formation of collagen. External application of the oil can prevent dehydration by reducing moisture loss from the skin.

Wheat Germ Oil – Wheat Germ oil is a source of vitamin B6, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus and many other essential nutrients, all good for your skin.  Wheat germ has antioxidant and anti-aging properties, which also helps in reducing the signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles.
